about

"Redacted" is a series of releases showcasing previously-unreleased and decommissioned Method One tracks, freshly remastered. Part Two will be released on Bandcamp on 17 February 2023.

Redacted Part Two—featuring nine tunes from 2009 to 2012—continues the synth-drenched vibe established in Part One, moving from atmospheric halftime/Autonomic explorations to electro-tinged dancefloor drum & bass.

1. Angel Island (2009) - One of my favorite unreleased tracks, Angel Island is definitely a product of my prolific early-Autonomic era. This one was supported by Doc Scott and many others.

2. Infatuation (2011) - This was written during the same time period as my "Symbol #5" release on Auxiliary Music, but has a much different vibe. It was definitely my try at the minimal drum & bass style that Data and others were pushing, though it came out quite differently.

3. Robobrain (Reduction Mix) (2012) - The original "Robobrain"—named after a NPC in Fallout 3—was a mediocre drum & bass tune, and not really worth including in this release. The stripped-back "Reduction Mix" featured here is much more interesting, I think. And yes, this is yet another Method One tune with a Star Trek: The Next Generation sample...big ups to Lt. Barkley!

4. Resynthesize (2010) - Just a big electro-influenced drum & bass that allowed me to recycle some ideas from an unfinished Atlantiq track.

5. Don't Fear the Flames (2009) - This is the last song to be added to this compilation because I (uhm) forgot about it entirely. Blame it on my old man brain, or that I was putting out a lot of music during this period. That said, I was happy to rediscover it, and it deserved a space on this album.

6. Nobody's Home (2010) - Probably the most aggressive of the tunes I was writing in this period, "Nobody's Home" was an exploration of chopping vocal samples and seeing what happened. Played by Loxy, at least...not sure who else.

7. Seven Veils (2010) - The vibe of this tune comes from a movie soundtrack sample, though after so many years I forget what the move was. Oh well.

8. Morning Memories (2009) - I love the contrast between the soft vocals and the electro-tinged drums and synthwork. Just an interesting experiment that wound up working out.

9. The City Sleeps (2011) - A track written on the line between my drum & bass output and my more introspective Auxiliary/autonomic work.
