about

"Redacted" is a series of releases showcasing previously-unreleased and decommissioned Method One tracks, freshly remastered for 2021. Part One will be released on Bandcamp on 2 April 2021, followed by Part Two on 7 May 2021.

Spanning seven tunes written from 2008 to 2012, Part One ranges from pure drum & bass to deep halftime and Autonomic styles.

1. Locked Inside (2010) - This tune was named after a true event: A broken doorknob caused the front door of my apartment to get stuck, and I started writing this tune while waiting for a locksmith to get me out! Supported by Loxy and DJ Flight back in the day.

2. Absolute Amounts (2011) - This was originally supposed to be released on a well-established label in 2011, but fell victim to a unimpressed distributor and wound up as an orphan track. The name was inspired by an in-joke with ASC.

3. Alphamatrix (2011) - This started as an experiment to see what I could come up with by limiting myself to only a couple pieces of gear. Other than the drums and a few vocal snippets and effects, everything in this track is from a Roland MKS-50 (aka the rackmount Alpha Juno) and an Oberheim Matrix 1000.

4. Sequential (2009) - No Sequential synths are actually on this track, though I've collected a few since it was written. One of a long list of tunes where my Depeche Mode influences are quite apparent!

5. Ghost Notes - Remix (2009) - The original "Ghost Notes" was made in 2002 or 2003, and is also unreleased. But I always thought the better version was this remix from 2009, which goes a lot deeper. Big shouts to Haze at Red Mist Recordings for suggesting that I remove the snares entirely...it really helped give the tune a distinct identity.

6. Method One and Stunna - Sleight of Hand (2008) - One of my many collaborations with Chicago's DJ Stunna, "Sleight of Hand" was our second tune together after 2007's "Memento" (which came out on Levitated Recordings).

7. Sunset Over Sutro (2008) - Named after the crumbling ruins of San Francisco's Sutro Baths, this tune was originally slated for release on ASC's Covert Operations label. But as styles moved toward the autonomic side of things, and Covert Operations was shuttered, Sunset Over Sutro no longer fit my new creative direction. The guitars in this track were contributed by my long-time friend and collaborator Jamie Myerson, who can be found at jamiemyerson.bandcamp.com.
